When can I use the Clearblue Digital
Pregnancy Test?
Clearblue recommends that you test from the day your period is due.
However, Clearblue Digital Pregnancy Test can be used up to 4 days
before your period is due. If you test before your period is due and
get a ‘Not Pregnant’ result, there is still a chance that you may be
pregnant but that your hormone level is still not high enough for
the test to detect.
In clinical testing with early pregnancy samples Clearblue Digital
Pregnancy Test gave the following results: 51% of women received a
‘Pregnant’ result 4 days early, 82% of women 3 days early, 90% of
women two days early and 95% of women 1 day early.
How does the Clearblue Digital
Pregnancy Test work?
Average levels of hCG circulating in your body during pregnancy and
after giving birth. Point 1 is Implantation and Point 2 is birth.
Week 3
As soon as a fertilised egg is implanted in the lining of your womb
(implantation), your body starts producing the pregnancy hormone,
human Chorionic Gonadotrophin (hCG). Although the length of the
menstrual cycle varies between women, many women will have their
next period 12-16 days after ovulation. If you are pregnant, in
most women, by the day your period is due, the level of hCG in your
body will be detectable by a Clearblue pregnancy test.
Week 4
If you do a Clearblue Pregnancy test and your result is 'Pregnant',
your first step is to make an appointment with your doctor for
advice on how best to look after yourself and your baby during these
crucial first weeks of pregnancy, and also later on. If you do a
Clearblue Pregnancy test and the result is 'Not Pregnant', but you
still think you might be pregnant, wait for 3 days and test again.
The level of hCG increases so rapidly that the level will be much
higher 3 days after originally testing, and will show if you are
pregnant.
Week 5
The level of hCG doubles approximately every 2-3 days. hCG helps to
maintain the pregnancy. It is thought that this is the hormone
responsible for morning sickness.
Week 7-12
Sometimes between weeks 7-12, the level of hCG peaks and then drops
almost as rapidly as it increased, which is why morning sickness
often drops off after the first 12 weeks or so of pregnancy.
Week 15
The level of hCG then stays at a steady, elevated level for the rest
of the pregnancy and for up to 3 weeks after giving birth. The
level of hCG is elevated above normal levels for up to 9 weeks if
you have had a miscarriage or termination. If you do a Clearblue
Pregnancy test during this time, it will be impossible to know if
the 'Pregnant' result is caused by a new pregnancy or by the
residual hCG from your previous pregnancy. In this situation, it is
worth making an appointment with your doctor.
The Clearblue Digital Pregnancy Test works by detecting the
pregnancy hormone in your urine and is over 99% accurate when used
from the day your period is due. You can use it up to 4 days before
your period is due but if you get a ‘Not Pregnant’ result, you
should test again when your period is due. The levels of pregnancy
hormone in your urine may not be high enough to be detected yet.
With a Clearblue Digital Pregnancy Test, an optical reader encased
in the Test Stick interprets the result for you and shows your
result in words: either ‘Not Pregnant’ or ‘Pregnant’ with an
indication of how many weeks.
The Clearblue Digital Pregnancy Test is quick and easy to use, and
produces a result within 3 minutes.
How to interpret your results
Your doctor will calculate your stage of
pregnancy based on the first day of your last period. The Conception
Indicator tells you how many weeks ago you conceived. Conception
occurs approximately 2 weeks before your next period is due.

Directions
Please note, these are abbreviated
instructions. Always read the in-pack leaflet before carrying out a
test.
When you are ready to do your Clearblue
DIGITAL Pregnancy Test, simply remove the one-piece Test Stick from
its individual foil wrapper and take off the cap. With the tip
pointing downwards, hold the Absorbent Sampler in your urine stream
for 5 seconds. Alternatively, you can collect a sample of your urine
in a clean, dry container and immerse the Absorbent Sampler in the
urine for 20 seconds only.
When the urine sample is applied to the
Absorbent Sampler it is detected by the test. A flashing ‘Wait’
symbol (egg timer) is shown on the Display demonstrating that the
test is working correctly. Within 3 minutes the symbol stops
flashing and the result will appear.
The Display will show a ‘Pregnant’ or ‘Not
Pregnant’ result. This result will continue to be shown on the
Display for approximately 24 hours.
The Clearblue Pregnancy Test with
Colour Change Tip offers you seven signs of certainty.
It is 99% accurate from the day your period is due. It
is sensitive and early, and can be used up to 4 days
before your period is due, as it is so sensitive it can
usually detect the hormone level required for a positive
result: If you test before your period is due and get a
‘Not Pregnant’ result, there is still a chance that you
may be pregnant but that your hormone level is still not
high enough for the test to detect. In clinical testing
with early pregnancy samples the Clearblue Digital
pregnancy test gave the following results: 53% of women
received a ‘Pregnant’ result 4 days early, 74% of women
3 days early, 84% of women two days early and 87% of
women 1 day early.
The Clearblue Colour Change Pregnancy Test is clear, it

Please note, these are abbreviated instructions. Always read the
in-pack leaflet before carrying out a test.
When you’re ready to do your Clearblue Pregnancy Test with
Colour Change Tip, simply remove the one-piece Test Stick from
its individual foil wrapper and take off the cap.
You can test directly in your urine stream, or in a sample of
your urine collected in a clean, dry container. Hold the Colour
Change Tip pointing downwards either in your urine stream, or in
your collected urine sample, for 5 seconds only.
The Colour Change Tip will quickly turn pink, showing that urine
is being absorbed, but it’s important to continue to hold it in
the urine for the full 5 seconds.
Keep the Colour Change Tip pointing downwards or lie the Test
Stick flat until the line has appeared in the Control Window.
You can read your result after 2 minutes.
If you’re testing from the day your period is due, you can test
at any time of the day. If testing early, you should use the
first urine of the day. You should avoid drinking excessive
amounts of fluids before testing.
A blue line will appear in the Control Window within 2 minutes
to show that the test has worked. Read your result after 2
minutes.
* If there is a ‘–‘ in the Result Window when the line in
the Control Window appears, your result is ‘Not Pregnant’.
* If there is a ‘+’ in the Result Window when the line in
the Control Window appears, your result is ‘Pregnant’.
It does not matter if one of the lines that make up the ‘+’
symbol is lighter or darker than the other; the result is
‘Pregnant'. The appearance of the ‘+’ symbol in the Result
Window may vary, however, the lines that make up the ‘+’ symbol
and the line in the Control Window should be of a similar width.
If you are still unsure of your result, you should wait at least
3 days before testing again, taking care to follow the
instructions.
How do I know if the test has worked?
The Clearblue Pregnancy Test with Colour Change Tip has a sample
indicator and a control window to give you extra reassurance.
The Colour Change Tip will quickly turn pink showing that urine
is being absorbed. Within 2 minutes of taking the test a blue
line appears in the Control Window to show that the test has
worked properly.
If no blue line appears in the Control Window within 10 minutes,
then the test has not worked. This may be because
* too much or too little urine was applied (remember, 5
seconds only), or
* the Colour Change Tip was not kept pointing downwards, or
* the Test Stick was not laid flat after urine was applied.
The Clearblue Ovulation Test Kit has been
scientifically proven in extensive laboratory tests to be 99 %
accurate. It calculates the best days to conceive in just three
minutes. It's easy to use and comes with seven test sticks.
